MARIAN + LUKE

As told by Marian:

Our main priority with the wedding planning process was to make sure this day felt genuinely like "us". We didn't want to do things the way we had seen them done before just for the sake of hosting a "wedding". We intentionally thought about every single decision we made so that we could be proud of the celebration we put together! We wanted our friends and family to leave the weekend feeling like they had truly celebrated "Marian & Luke", meaning this could not have been anyone else's event. For example, we both have ice cream tattoos (if that tells you how much we love it), so we HAD to have an ice cream cart for dessert rather than a traditional wedding cake. We also customized our first dance -- Luke is a talented DJ, so he put together a mashup of three of our favorite songs that we danced to. We hired a fun and upbeat brass band that plays covers of pop songs to be our wedding band because we saw them performing on the streets of Williamsburg during the pandemic, and it was a HIT!! Lastly, we wanted the whole evening to feel like a casual backyard party with friends/family rather than a formal sit-down meal, so we opted for a cocktail-style reception.

In terms of my beautiful engagement ring...I want to give Luke full credit for picking out the ring...I had ZERO CLUE, and I am absolutely OBSESSED with it! So, Luke knew that I followed you on Instagram (and had since 2015 when you and I first met over a cup of coffee near the Flatiron Building because a former colleague connected me with you to talk about my love of jewelry making). Luke knew I loved your work, and he was sneakily following the things that I liked on your page for MONTHS...haha so sneaky!! But I give him major credit for this. I still stare at my ring every day and think how lucky I am to have it ;)

Luke, being the wonderful partner he is, also surprised Marian with a beautiful tennis bracelet as a wedding day present! You can see it (and her reaction in the photos). 

“I'm not a crier, but I could not keep it together after that! I felt SO special! He's also since gifted me a beautiful pair of diamond studs for a milestone birthday. So we are keeping our love of Susie Saltzman going strong!!!” - Marian.
