Ally + Ryan
Our love story, from Ally’s perspective:
I always say I never dreamed of my wedding, but rather my marriage. I was determined to make our wedding feel like a true celebration of our life together surrounded by all the people we love vs. checking items off an imaginary list just to make it feel “like a wedding.”
As an event planner for work, from day one I knew my chief focus for our wedding weekend would be on guest experience, and the first place our minds jumped to was to bring everyone to Tuscany. We traveled to Italy in 2021, and fell absolutely in love with the warmth of the people, their hospitality, and of course the incredible wine and food. We wanted our guests to feel enveloped in what we experienced in 2021. We found the perfect spot at Villa Catureglio just outside Lucca. From the welcome dinner with pizza and gelato in the garden, to our wedding day starting with the ceremony in the grotto, followed by a five course love letter to Tuscan cuisine by candle light in the olive trees, the weekend was everything we envisioned and more. It was important to us that while our wedding was formal, nothing was fussy. We wanted it to feel like we were hosting our guests for the best dinner party of our lives.
As much as it’s hard to shake my event-perfectionist habits, Ryan made sure that in choosing to work with Susie, we got to take a moment to spoil ourselves through the custom design process. It all started with a (very Type A) email from me to my best friend a year or so into dating Ryan. I had been following Susie on Instagram since before I even met Ryan, when a former colleague of mine got married, I loved everything about and I knew Susie would be the one to design my engagement ring one day. As predicted, Ryan reached out to that friend and found his way to Susie. He knows me well enough to know that I wanted to be involved in the design process and I loved getting to make a weekend out of our trip to Manhattan to work with Susie and visit our friends in town. Ryan’s mother also worked with Susie to create the sweetest pearl earrings as a gift ahead of our wedding. We’re looking forward to working with Susie for all of life’s milestones ahead.
